United Nations Human Rights Council:
The United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) is an inter-governmental body within the United Nations System, and is one of the most prominent institutions of the United Nations. The UNHRC is the successor to the United Nations Commission on Human Rights (UNCHR, herein CHR), and is a subsidiary body of the United Nations General Assembly. The council works closely with the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) and engages the United Nations’ Special procedures.
Human Rights Foundation:
The Human Rights Foundation (HRF) is a non-profit organization whose stated mission “is to ensure that freedom is both preserved and promoted” in the Americas. The Human Rights Foundation was founded in 2005 by Thor Halvorssen Mendoza, a Venezuelan film producer and freedom activist. Its head office is in New York City, New York, USA.
Center for Human Rights and Humanitarian law:
The Center for Human Rights and Humanitarian Law at American University Washington College of Law (WCL) was founded in 1990 as a way to coordinate all the human rights and humanitarian law activities at WCL. The Center’s objective is “to work with students, faculty and the international legal community to provide scholarship and support for human rights initiatives around the world.
